Winter Shorebird Sites

Florida is home to a wide variety of shorebirds. Most of these species nest in the high Arctic and either pass through during migration or spend the entire nonbreeding season here in Florida. The following map provides information on some of Florida's important shorebird wintering sites.

Site, shorebird abundance, and species diversity information for this map were taken from a report prepared by Gary Sprandel, Jeff Gore, and David Cobb from data collected in the winter of 1993-1994. See the full report, click here.
