FSA partners organize and participate in a wide variety of shorebird and seabird surveys throughout the year in Florida. Most surveys are simple, providing us with a quick look or "snapshot" of how birds are distributed during a certain period of the year (e.g. breeding season vs. non-breeding season). Whereas others are more involved such as long-term studies looking at trends in distribution and abundance over time. Regardless of their extent or complexity, surveys provide us with much-needed information about species occurrence (i.e. when and where) for shorebirds and seabirds.
Future surveys
FSA partners are often looking for skilled observers to help with surveys, and requests for assistance will be sent as an announcement to the mailing list- to get on the list and join the flock, contact us. Another way to find out about upcoming surveys is to take a look at the FSA calendar, check it out in the field notes.
If you are organizing a shorebird and/or seabird survey, and would like to add your survey to our calendar, or post an announcement, email calendar@flshorebirdalliance.org.
